Dear friends, colleagues and fellow investors,
It’s been more than 38 years since my partners and I began our endeavor of developing new and unique properties that would enhance and enrich people’s lives, while celebrating the beauty, history and diversity of the cities in which we focus. Since then we’ve created, restored and revitalized structures in Key West, Florida, San Diego, California, Washington DC and St. Augustine, Florida. Our other residential properties in Key West include Key Cove, a Key Cove Estates, The Railway Condominiums, Paradise Harbor, Islander Village, Marquesa Court and many more
One of our many projects in Key West was the construction of the Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory, which is recognized as one of Key West’s most popular attractions. The 13,000 square foot building was completed in 2004 and includes a 5000 square foot glass enclosed conservatory, a learning center and a gallery of unique butterfly artwork.
Another significant venture was our development of the historic Flagler Station on the corner of Caroline and Margaret Streets in the Historic Seaport area of Key West. Built in 1999, Flagler Station is a recreation of the Florida East Coast Railway train station that was once in Key West, Florida. The complex contains a museum, located in an original railway car, a theater, an original railroad worker’s home relocated from Big Pine Key, and the ticket office that is now an art gallery.
Our recreation of an original adobe home in San Diego was another project that gave us great satisfaction. The $5 million dollar project was completed in 2003 and is located at the entrance of the Old Town State Park in San Diego (the most visited park in the state of California). My partners and I recreated the adobe home of Antonio Aguirre and restored the old convent of 1908. Today, visitors from all over the world can enjoy the Old Town San Diego market, which is home to a free museum, open-air market and retail shops.
In 2005, we constructed the Washington Welcome Center at the corner of 10th & E streets. This 5,700 square foot retail center is located across from Ford’s Theater, Hard Rock Cafe and the F.B.I Building.
And in the fall of this year, we will begin construction on the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum in Boston, Massachusetts. The new facility will consist of an expansive museum, gift shop, the “Tea Room” (a food service and special catered event center), and space for exhibitions, receptions and displays. Adding to the authenticity of the structure, the museum and tearoom will be on a barge that will rise and fall with the tide. This magnificent structure will give visitors the chance to experience the events that took place during this historic period in a fascinating and entertaining way.
Today, I am delighted to share with you our most recent venture and our most extraordinary opportunity in Key West. The all-new Key West Steamplant is the perfect union of luxury, location and investment value, a creation of the most opulent living on the island situated on the historic Key West waterfront.
Before developing Key West Steamplant, it was our goal to create a lavish new community that would be unlike any other on our island. A place where residents could lead a life of privacy and luxury without a care, in a setting that would surpass anything the city has seen before—in essence, an exclusive, secure, worry-free existence.
Key West Steamplant is that place and so much more. With it’s industrial chic design, fantastic Art Deco façade, imposing height of nearly 70 feet, which is twice the legal limit by today’s Key West architectural standards, expansive living spaces and ultimate amenities, the Key West Steamplant offers an incomparable experience for residents and investors alike.
While designing Key West Steamplant, no expense was spared, personal, covered parking, private elevators, spacious balconies and private rooftop terraces and pools are just a few of the standard features each home includes. Lush landscaped gardens and common gathering spots offer social opportunities if the desire arises. Details like superior cabinetry, hardware and appliances are also standard. Panoramic views of the historic Key West harbor and our world-famous Key West sunset are also included…daily. And perhaps the Key West Steamplant’s greatest asset of all—location. Just a short walk away from the historic seaport and Duval Street, the community is close to dining, shopping, galleries and all that Key West is so well known for.
I invite you now to partake in the wondrous new Key West Steamplant, an uncommon jewel that is steeped in history and beauty for a lifestyle beyond ordinary aspirations.
Thank you,
Ed Swift, III
